Although you may use a laptop or PC most of the day, it can be difficult to figure out the smallest issues. Sometimes, fixing a problem with your PC can seem almost impossible. In the past, I’ve seen users raise issues with their PCs and wait for support to respond. After a few days, they find out that the problem was easily fixed by them and could have saved valuable time. It’s not as difficult as you might think. Here are some basic steps that you can do to check on simple issues.
This is a common knowledge! It is re-starting your system. Although we don’t know the root cause of the problem, it is a good idea to restart your computer. Re-start the system and save all documentation. It has solved most of the problems.
Check that your updates are current. You might get pop-ups asking for updates that you are not paying attention to. Make sure that all software is up-to-date.
If your system is slow, check to see if any websites are open or if any downloads are occurring in the background. People often confuse their system performance and their internet connectivity performance. Once you have verified all of these, you can check the amount of hard disk space on your system. You can free up space to increase your computer’s speed.
To ensure that there aren’t malware functions causing the slower speed, you can also run a virus scan. The task manager will show you which tasks are slow. Simply press the “CTRL + AL + delete” button. A pop-up window will appear to display the tasks and how much memory they use. You can choose to end this task.
If your mouse or keyboard is not working, make sure that you have the correct cable plugged in. To verify that the mouse is working, try different ports. Make sure your wireless mouse is turned on.
Sound not working: If you have difficulty hearing, make sure that the volume is at the right levels.
You must capture errors during any phase of a problem. It will be useful for further diagnosis and can also be reported to someone. Perhaps the error message can be searched on Google to find answers.
Unable to open email attachments? This could be because you don’t have the latest version of the software or the missing software. You can download the latest version online and update as needed.
Error stating security problems: This could be a problem with the system clock. Click on clock to change the date/time settings and sync it with the current time.
You can also use the internet to find solutions to simple problems. These are the most basic things you can do at home to fix the problem. If the problem persists and you aren’t sure what to do, contact technical support. It is better to leave the problem alone than to try to fix it yourself.
